   South Metropolitan Area Health Service
 

The South Metropolitan Area Health Service (SMAHS) is part of the Department of Health in the Western Australian (WA) Government's public health service.

SMAHS caters for the population residing south of the Swan River in the fastest population growth area of WA's capital city, Perth.

To meet the needs of current and future population, there will be significant growth in health services and facilities in the southern metropolitan area in the coming decade.
Major projects already commissioned include the development of a new public tertiary hospital – the Fiona Stanley Hospital in Murdoch – and major upgrades to the Rockingham General Hospital, the Peel Health Campus and the Armadale-Kelmscott Memorial Hospital.

SMAHS services are delivered from hospital and community facilities across the Area.

Fremantle Group - includes Fremantle Hospital - a general teaching hospital, its maternity and day surgery campus at Kaleeya Hospital and the Rottnest Island Nursing Post

Royal Perth Hospital - the state's largest teaching hospital and the Shenton Park Campus of RPH

The Armadale Bentley Group - Armadale Health Service and the Bentley Health Service

The Rockingham Peel Group - Rockingham General Hospital, Murray District Hospital, the Mandurah and Kwinana Community Health Centres

Area Mental Health and Public Health Services are also provided.
